Buying Used Commercial Kitchen Equipment

The only equipment that should be used in a commercial kitchen is that which has been approved by the national sanitation foundation and bears the NSF blue sticker. Large fines can be imposed by inspectors if equipment that is not NSF approved is used in commercial kitchens.

  • If you are buying used commercial kitchen equipment from a seller who you do not know always have a certified technician with you who can inspect it.
  • Any equipment that you are thinking of buying should preferably be inspected while it is still working.
  • Check facts any local codes are complied with by any use equipment you are considering buying. These codes include fire codes, building codes, and health and safety codes. If you are not sure what they are and check with your local departments.
